About Malinda —
Early on in my career, the hustle and grind for my own success was the ultimate goal. But as I evolved, I quickly realized that watching others succeed around me was far more satisfying.
Long-term care was never the plan, in fact, it couldn’t have been further from what I intended to do with my life. Yet, I somehow found myself smack in the middle of an administrator role in my early to mid 20s. I should’ve been petrified if I knew what I know now, but ignorance was bliss and I meandered along in a role that I didn’t realize the power and influence of until much later on. Fast forward nearly a decade of being an administrator, and the industry is harsher than ever before. I thought it was tough then, but it is nothing compared to how difficult the environment is now.
When asked what my why is for creating M.S. Healthcare Consulting, my answer comes from a true commitment to nurture the next generation of healthcare leaders. I’m able to provide these services by combining real world experience with compassion and empathy. Nothing matters to me more than to make a difference through authentic connection with others, while helping them along their pathway of growth.
When I am not tackling the world of long-term care,
I am a professor at Iowa State University, as well as Barcelona Executive Business School. Helping to make a positive impression on the next generation is incredibly important to me, and my ultimate hope is that they choose to embark on the tough, gritty world of healthcare. I have my doctorate degree from MCPHS University in Boston (go Bruins!) in health sciences, my master’s degree from Drake University in public administration, and my bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University in journalism. I love all things Halloween-related, enjoy going for nature walks, write children’s books in my spare time, and will never say no to a cup of hot tea.
